Pesquisadores da UFSCar est\u00e3o entre os autores do livro “The New Geography in the Global Automotive Industry”, publicado pela Editora Nova Science. Em coautoria com Marcelo Jos\u00e9 do Carmo, M\u00e1rio Sacomano Neto, J\u00falio C\u00e9sar Donadone (da UFSCar); e Aditya Kuthar e Shreya Gupta (da Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, West Bengal, India), o livro explora a nova din\u00e2mica geogr\u00e1fica do setor automotivo ao estudar como o capital aperfei\u00e7oou a capacidade de mobilidade, submetendo pa\u00edses, territ\u00f3rios e trabalhadores \u00e0 extors\u00e3o locacional, ou seja, \u00e0 amea\u00e7a constante de encerramento de f\u00e1bricas.<\/p>\n

Esse processo se deve, por exemplo, \u00e0 press\u00e3o sindical, custos, tributos e \u00e0 relut\u00e2ncia dos agentes em garantir a estabilidade da produ\u00e7\u00e3o. \u00c0 medida que essas plantas adotam pr\u00e1ticas cada vez mais modernas, caracterizadas por modelos de organiza\u00e7\u00e3o industrial altamente compactos, como o Completely Knock-Down (CKD) e seus kits pr\u00e9-fabricados e importados, o apego dessas empresas \u00e0s suas localiza\u00e7\u00f5es enfraquece.<\/p>\n

Este livro identifica esses movimentos, sobretudo, em termos de Investimentos Estrangeiros Diretos (IEDs), que inundam pa\u00edses e regi\u00f5es carentes de grupos automobil\u00edsticos e os transformam em plataformas de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e exporta\u00e7\u00e3o de baixo custo.<\/p>\n

Onde e quanto as montadoras produzem e de que forma? Por meio de\u00a0joint ventures<\/em>\u00a0ou sozinhas? Em que situa\u00e7\u00e3o est\u00e3o os novos\u00a0players<\/em>, como China e \u00cdndia? Como podemos explicar o decl\u00ednio dos antigos produtores europeus, EUA e Jap\u00e3o? At\u00e9 que ponto essas mudan\u00e7as na localiza\u00e7\u00e3o da produ\u00e7\u00e3o afetaram os pa\u00edses e o pr\u00f3prio setor automotivo, especialmente em termos de sal\u00e1rios dos trabalhadores? O objetivo deste livro \u00e9 mapear as mudan\u00e7as geogr\u00e1ficas na produ\u00e7\u00e3o mundial de ve\u00edculos e tentar responder a essas perguntas usando uma estrutura anal\u00edtica fundamentada na sociologia econ\u00f4mica.<\/p>\n

“Por meio de estudos de caso, nosso objetivo \u00e9 investigar como os fabricantes de autom\u00f3veis (grandes empresas multinacionais) estruturaram novas ind\u00fastrias em pa\u00edses emergentes, reestruturaram suas bases dom\u00e9sticas e desenvolveram novas regi\u00f5es de produ\u00e7\u00e3o. Conduzimos uma an\u00e1lise explorat\u00f3ria da produ\u00e7\u00e3o automotiva global, incluindo os contornos da mudan\u00e7a geogr\u00e1fica e os impactos que essa mudan\u00e7a tem nas condi\u00e7\u00f5es socioecon\u00f4micas dos trabalhadores e dos atores envolvidos”, explicam os autores.<\/p>\n
